Just moved into a rental where the lounge room carpet stinks?

Ive just moved into a rental and the carpet really stinks Ive tried odourizers,vinegar,bicarb soda ,nil odour yet smell just wont go,any suggestions?
 
I wouldn't use anything wet because it could be mold or mildew. Try this! It works wonders for me every time. Sprinkle borax on your carpet, let it set overnight, and vacuum it up in the morning. But don't put any liquid on it, just sprinkle the borax on and more heavily on the areas where it stinks the most. I hope this helps b/c it did for me! :)
