Did the contract require you to have gap insurance or extra high liability limits? 10k mi per year is low, below the average for 4 wheel vehicles. How much is the extra mileage surcharge? At least they gave you a good residual, yeay Japanese cars!
Unfortunately, there's not much you can do now. You should have done your homework before even deciding which dealership to visit. It is also financially unsound to finance depreciating goods, like vehicles. It is not an investment if it drops in value, and it will. While it is possible to trade the leased vehicle in or purchase it before the lease contract ends (in which case the mileage total won't matter), at the end of the term you will have made $8640 + high insurance payments and still not own the vehicle. Oops. What kind of used vehicle could you be buying outright in 3 years with $8640?
At least the Mazda 3 is a good car, so you can console yourself with that fact. But the Best car of All is the Paid For, any year & model.
