just got new pc need help with pictures and image files?

just got a new vista pc and all images and pictures are shown instead of icon
ie if i put a picture of a dog or something on the desktop then it will show the dog. i just want an icon to show not the actual picture

help please
 
at the top of explorer just change your view setting.. it should also be available from the context menu if you right click on an empty part of the screen and select a different view option
