Just got a ps3 for the blue ray. Do I need a HDMI cable? They are like $70?

I have a sharp 720p tv and a panasonic home theater and just got a ps3. Do I really need a $70 HDMI cable for it to work or is it optional? If I do need one do I need only one? I know a 720 is kinda lame but i didnt have enough money.
 
yes, hdmi cables are easier (one cable/connector vs. 3 for video + 2 for audio as required by component).

look at buy.com for hdmi cable. they have a cable for $5.00 Even a brand name like cables unlimited is arounf $10.

hdmi cables, and extended warranty plans, are the real moneymakers for electronic places. the cables are made in a few factories and resold under many names. remember when an inkjet printer was $39 and the store tried to sell you a $5 USB cable for $39? Got it?
