Just curious, a breastfeeding question?

First- I'm not breastfeeding, my daughter's older now, I'm genuinely just curious about this and have always wondered.

I'm wondering- if a mother has a completely unhealthy diet, and is unhealthy herself, is that bad for a breastfed baby?

I don't really want answers saying "just eat healthier". Let's just assume that the mother has an unhealthy diet, and that's the way it is.

So what are the consequences? Does that make the breastmilk unhealthy? Not AS healthy, but still ok? Does it depend on how, exactly, the mother isn't healthy? Like is there a difference between a mother who eats only junk food and no healthy things, vs. a mother who hardly eats anything and doesn't get enough nutrients?

Just curious!
