Been a few weeks since I posted, in fact the last time I posted. I was doing some venting. My husband just had a partial knee replacement done on Tuesday, so I have been playing nursemaid. Taking care of him has really given me a slap in the face to be honest. As you all know, I am due to have fusion revision done soon, as well as knee surgery. Just waiting dear sweet Insurance Carrier and Workers Comp to approve them. I had forgotten what it is like to be totally helpless!!!!! I am waiting on him hand and foot---did you take your meRAB--need the ice---are you hungry, etc. etc. etc. Wearing myself ragged. I am doing some pretty serious second thinking regarding the surgeries. I am leaning in the direction of going back to work instead. I have had enough. I want to be human again and have my independence back. I have been robbed enough and long enough. I stopped taking the Lyrica and I have lost 10 pounRAB!!!! Will make the Dr. eat crow when I see him!!

I am so sorry you, guys, go throgh so much now. I don't blame you at all about your second thoughts. This is not an easy road and you have to be mentaly prepared for it for sure.

IF you don't mind can you please tell me why do you have your spinal fusion and knee surgery? I am not here to play a Dr, but since I had 2 knee surgeries and 2 spinal multi-levels spinal fusions - I may share some thoghts with you.

Good luck your both recovery!

the spinal fusion revision is due to the fact that one side did not fuse so they want to go in and put in new screws(bigger screws and bigger holes)with grafting from my hip as well as cadaver, fuse another level that has gone bad. The knee surgery(2nd one for me) is to repair torn meniscus and to see exactly how much damage there is---may need partial knee replacement soon. This back surgery will be my 4th so far. They have told me that the nerve damage I have may get worse after the surgery. Damned if I do, and damned if I don't.

Pat are they planning on mixing BMP with your bone this time? Supposedly BMP is supposed to make you fuse quicker. If they are not using this, you might want to check into it. Until you are fused, you will have pain.

Could you give us a run down on your surgeries and the dates?

Sorry about the delay in posting the surgeries, but I have been busy being a nurse with my husband, and doing chores that he usually does. Never knew it would be this hard just taking out the trash, doing laundry, and yes even cutting the grass. I have been putting his care on the top of the priorities and in turn letting myself go down the tubes.

With the revision, they will be using BMP, grafting from myself as well as cadaver, and post-op bone stimulator(don't know if that will be surgically put in or not).

Previous surgeries:

L4-5 microdiskectomy---2004

L4-5 Diskectomy---2005
L4-5 Laminotomy---2005

Left lateral recess decompression---2005
L5-S1 diskectomy---2005
