Spend $50 on these component cables from Nintendo and I kid you not the difference between standard and 480p is almost non existant.

Sorry about the quality but you can still pretty much tell the difference is tiny.
I think I may return these cables and spend that money on something worth while like a 360 game that uses 720p.

Component - Clear, more colorful crisp pictures. Jagged edges appear

In the 2nd picture, it definetely looks more colorful but it may be your camera.

Have you actually selected 480p mode?

Whats the resolution of your TV anyway? Looks pretty small.

You're right but the difference is pretty small, I'm not sure it was worth buying.
I did select 480p in the wii menu also.

My TV is 26" and supports native 720p.

I'd trade those speakers for extra screen room Ive got a similar Samsung 26' 720p TV but its all screen with shitty sound speakers hidden at the bottom.

You can see a small difference in component by just looking but when you play a game, you can just notice the difference is huge. Every object seems clearer. Its hard to capture on camera.

Oh and Ren & Stimpy ftw.

I would imagine the $50 cables would be wasted on a tv that size. I'd think probably around at least a 40+ screen before you would even be able to tell any real difference.

You'd think that but I have a Samsung 26' TV and I would never go back to standard cables. The difference isnt huge but I thought it was worth the money.

3rd party ones are going for cheap: http://cgi.ebay.com/Nintendo-Wii-Component-Cable-480p-ON-HAND_W0QQitemZ280059264003QQihZ018QQcategoryZ147176QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

no offense man, but this is quite possibly one of the worst sets of comparison pics I have ever seen, ever

the lighting is different in all the pics, the camera is in a different location in every pic, and the screens are even different in every pic.

I will try to make a better one on thursday when mine get here

i dunno i dont have an hdtv just a tv with svideo and component inputs.

i bought both s video and component cables just to mess around. the difference from composite to svideo was noticeable immediately.

however, changing from svideo to component its really hard to notice the difference. its there, but the only parts where it really seems noticeably better are the menus like the item menus/map in zelda + the Wii Menu. They all look a lot more 'crisp' through the component cables.

and btw the two horse pics look exactly the same.

I just hooked up my component cables last night, and the change is very noticeable and very much improved. Colors are much more rich, and less washed out. Everything is much sharper and clearer. The only downside is there are more jaggies, but I can live with that. This is on a 65" HDTV, so I can see why you wouldn't notice much of a difference on a tiny TV like that.
