Just been to see Brokeback Mountain....

It really annoys me when an art-house cinema or somewhere that professes a desire to be independent of the Hollywood studios shows stuff that you can see at every single other cinema in London.

I mean the Barbican are showing Narnia, why? There's got to be something more worthwile to put on that screen that would contribute to contemporary cinema in London. If I want to see something from Hollywood I'll go to my local Cineworld, VUE or Odeon.

The parent company is Blackstone investment group. In the USA some theatres are withdrawing it.

Seriously you have the wrong end of the stick because it's on at 18 CineworlRAB mainly in large urban areas where people would actually go and watch the film. OK I work for them and there's no agenda, if a film is going to make money they will show it. Also it's the main ad on the ex-UGC website.

The film bookers do an excellent job in getting a wide variety of stuff in, including films like Mysterious Skin which is far more explicit in its portrayal of homosexuality. It's a better film policy than any of the other main chains.

Back on topic: I don't see how anyone could totally dissmiss the film after all it's beautifully shot and has a lot going for it in script and variety of emotions.

This film is still bothering me. I saw it 2 days ago, thought yeah - its going to be a bit of a tearjerker. I didn't get too upset at the cinema, welled up a bit. Can't get it out of my head - had to buy the soundtrack today and am crying just listening to it.

No, I don't think I'm soft - I'm not sure what to think. Heath and Jake were amazing. Seen Jake in films before not Heath. They portrayed the characters so bloody well.

The film was - damn, I don't know it raised so many questions, provoked so many thoughts - touched on so many subjects. It was beautifully shot.

I have a emptyness is the pit of my stomach. I think I envy them for what they had on that mountain - they time they had to spend together, the building of such bond. I don't envy other parts but I don't want to spoil for others who haven't seen the film yet.

I feel privileged (correct word?) for how far many countries have come with acceptance over the last couple of decades. There are so many countries still intolerable with people who aren't 'normal' - and so many parts of the 'developed' world which cannot come to terms with this. I hope this film makes people think, discuss and accept.

Bazarama,
Like you I thought it was a good film when I left the cinema, but its only now a couple of days later, that I can't get it out of my head. Like you I kind of envy that bond that they have, in spite of everything.

I thought the acting in this film was astonishing, the relatively slow pace really drew me in, its hard to remember that these are actors playing a role.

I'm debating whether to go and see it again, but I'm not sure that would be a good thing:)!

Certainly the best film I have ever seen for me personally.

I saw this movie over the weekend and thought it was amazing. The scenery in it is fabulous, the script and acting are second to none and in its very simple presentation goes so much further than many other movies I have ever seen. It is really easy to connect with the characters, to feel for them and what for me at least is the mark of a good movie, is that I kept thinking about it for a long time after seeing it. I think it is a movie that everyone should see.

Even though its almost a week since I saw the movie I too can't stop thinking about it and have been debating whether or not to go back and see it again.

I saw it last night, and left the cinema feeling empty. I really enjoyed the beginning, the scenery was just stunning, and their relationship just made sense.

As the film went on, you could see how the two of them responded to their feelings in different ways - who couldn't fail to be moved when they first met each other again! - but also the way in which Ennis would
resort to violence
, and Jack to
what basically boils down to cheating
. Michelle Williams was brilliant as Ennis's wife, her reaction was acted perfectly.

Anyone who calls this 'that gay cowboy movie' quite plainly has no feelings, or is uncomfortable with the way they feel about the issue which is something they need to look at.

Hi
I decided to take the plunge and see BM for the second time. I've never done this with any other film.

On second viewing, I was in tears at the end, I noticed so many things I had missed the first time round, little things like the looks between the characters, even facial ticks, some of the dialogue, and of course the stunning scenery. I thought I might find it a little slow the second time around, but it wasn't like that at all. It was like I'd missed so much of it the first time round.

I know exactly what you mean Bazarama/Goldilocks, and no its not stupid to wonder about seeing it again, I was nervous, but I'm so pleased that I did. Stunning film.
Cheers

OK i wanted to see it since i heard about it! and saw some clips! of jake and heath! but ill be aware not to listen to the hype that much!! i just would like to see what the twist or very sad bit at the end is!??

It's not the ending that plays with your mind. There is not really a twist, unless you only watch paint by numbers films, and if you consider "it" a twist it's not at the end. For me it has been a film that has replayed in my mind for flip'n days now. There is no spielberg rip your heart out ending, only an aching missery, that make you think/question too many things,

I am counting the days until I get to see this movie over here in Ireland, I am dying to see it so much, thanks for all the great reviews - I just know that its gonna be an amazing experience! :)

Cheers,
June xxx :D

Im the same!! i just cant get this film outta my head!! its the most bizzare feeling!!

maybe its because the acotrs we so believable! and you got get dragged into it all along with them!!

I think its a film, where anyone who has made a decision about love, wether to leave a partner when met someone new, or stick it out! just hits you right where it hurts!! and to see the reprucussions, and the bits shaded! the spoilers is so true! that is what it was! and why it is so heartbreaking!!! you get the feeling, welll did it mean as much to him!!??
