first of all i have gotten very hurtful answers on my other questions if you have something rude to say keep it to yourself please..if you wanna tell me that marrying someone in the army will cheat on me don't waste your time.

i was wondering about how long after basics until the infantry gets sent to iraq or somewhere over in the middle east.i know some people who didnt get deployed out there for 3 years.and i also heard that he wont be deployed for a long time or something if i am pregnant .but im not sure i just need info.thanks.
 
Him being deployed to the middle east,depends on what unit he is asigned to after AIT, as far as being pregnant,he will non-deployable
after your 7th month,and for 6 weeks after the brith.
 
Honestly, there's no way to tell you. Some people get deployed weeks out of training. On the other hand, my recruiter is a former Ranger who served for 9 years, and just missed getting deployed.

Your being pregnant won't keep them from deploying them. However, I've been TOLD (this is what several people in-the-know said in another thread) that while deployed, first preference for leave times is given to expectant fathers. This definitely does not guarantee he would be home for the birth, just that they do at least make an attempt to let him.

And people who scream about how he'll cheat on you are either (a) cheating spouses themselves, (b) spouses of cheating spouses, or (c) civilians who think a man can't possibly go without sex for more than ten minutes under any circumstances. Sure, men and women cheat, but a majority of them do not. And the ones that do could cheat just as easily here at home on a regular basis (and probably do). If you two have a good, trusting relationship, then you already know you have nothing to worry about!

EDIT: Is Paul right? Does Infantry require that much taining time? I was under the impression they did their OSUS and were then deployable, but since I'm a woman I've never really paid much attention to how the combat MOSs work. Just curious. :-)
 
Gawd please please don't listen to the person that said a Soldier will not be deployed if he has a pregnant wife. TOTALLY UNTRUE Lots of Soldiers are deployed while their wives are pregnant and miss the birth of their children. Many many military wives have their children without their husbands.It happens because the military comes first. To the other question. It depends on the unit an infantryman goes to after training that decides when he is deployed. Units go in cycles.
 
It depends on his unit if he gets deployed, there is no set time after he gets done with his training, its wenever his unit goes. and as for pregnant, they still go, there is something called the emergency leave act but u being prego will not stop them from sending him, there are thousands of men who miss the birth of thier kids...the army does come first, us as army wives just have to suck it up and deal with it, the hardest job in military is the military wife...
 
First of all, we cannot tell you how long after Basic Training and AIT until he gets deployed. It all depends on what unit he is assigned to. What the Army tries to do is assign most new people to units that are in the preparation phase for deployment. That could be 3 months to a year before the deployment. This is what happens to the majority of trainees. Units in this phase get the priority for new people and they try to assign them closes to the 1 year mark then the 3 month mark, but it depends on when the schools graduate and when the unit deploys.

Some get sent to units that are deployed as replacements which means it could possibly be as soon as a month after AIT if his time line, pre-deployment training and he doesn't take leave or anything.

A few people get to units that just returned and have a couple years before deploying. For the most part, we are deploying every other year to 18 months. In general, these units are the lowest priority to get new people.

If you are pregnant, he still deploys. If this is your first child, they will send him home for emergency leave a couple weeks before the child is due. If this is a second child, it depends on the mission at the time and the commander. This can get messed up because military issues take priority on transportation to and from the war zone. This could also count as his 2 week Rest and Relaxation (R&R) period for the deployment.

Also, Infanty training is OSUT and lasts about 14 weeks (he will take Basic Training and AIT together), not 18 months like Paul said.
