Just a few questions about the 1994 dodge ram?

I'm going to get my drivers license soon and I want to get a dodge ram. It's a real nice pickup truck it's by far my favorite. I'd prefer to get a 1994 version because first of all my uncle has one and I've always liked that truck and more importantly I like the nice neat looking Dodge ram's from 1994-2002 better than the big hulking 2008, 2009 and 2010 versions. So I have a few questions about these versions before I get one. First of all the I'm a real big fisherman so I want to know the maximum towing capacity because I prefer to use boats over 3000 lbs, you think it could pull that? Also, what are it's abilities on dirt roads or off-road because I also like to hunt and I may need to drive it into the woods to retreive a deer carcass or something. How much can it hold in the back? I may want to carry an ATV in the back or a row-boat, maybe help some friends move things. Is it a gas guzzler? How many miles per gallon? Does it have power steering? Next, Can I get one with four wheel drive? What about Air bags? Does it have them. Finally, would I be able to hook up a GPS system to the dashboard? Preferably one of those talking ones. I know it's alot but I'm sure all you car guys out there would be able to answer these. Thanks
 
One question at a time. I have a 1996 Ram 1500. It isn't much different that a 94. I have towed over 5,000 pounds on mountain roads without any trouble. Mine did not come with a factory towing package so I added an aftermarket transmission cooler and trailer brake controller. I drive on dirt roads almost daily and frequently drive off road to reach small fishing ponds. It will easily carry an ATV. Mine has the 8 foot bed and I have carried 2 ATVs a few times. You need to turn them sideways and lift the front tires onto the bed rail. It eats gas. If I drive conservatively I get 14 miles per gallon. If I drive fast, or off road or use the 4 wheel drive a lot the mileage drops to 12. It has power steering and brakes, driver and passenger front air bags and power windows, locks and mirrors. I'm sure you can install a GPS but I think your money would be better spent on a nice stereo system. The factory radio/cassette player was not impressive. Overall mine has been a good truck. I replaced the transmission at 186,000 miles, wheel bearings and front hubs at 225,000 miles and that's it for expensive repairs. The engine runs great but the body is starting to rust. I expect the truck to die from rust in about 2 years. I'll probably replace it with another Ram when that time comes.
 
The 94s have issues with the paint peeling off, and some might be throttle-body injected... I would recommend 96 or higher for the sake of OBDII, airbags, paint, and guranteed MPFI.

Towing capacity depends on how it's equipped. A 1996 with the 5.2L V8, 4x4, has a towing capacity of about 7,000 pounds, with a payload (how much you can store in the cab and on the bed) of 1700 pounds.

Mileage depends on your tires, engine, and how you drive it. I have the fullsize B2500 van, 2-wheel drive, aggressive tires, and the 5.2 V8, I get about 15mpg on summer fuel, 13mpg on winter fuel (the vans are heavier though -- about 700 pounds more)

Power steering is standard, and any generic GPS can be connected.
