Jumanji Animated Series

I recently stumbled across the series in the subject line on YouTube and have been enjoying it. It's caused some of the fanfiction writer juices in my head to start spinning, but nothing concrete yet. My scratchpad's getting a lot of mileage though.

Anyone else remember this series at all? I'm only just watching a few episodes and gaining inspiration from them. But every little bit helps...

I remember when it was on at the time, but I never watched it. From what I read, it sounded like it basically just rehashed the movie, but in a drawn-out television format, rather than having original adventures or something.

Love the movie, though. :)

I remember seeing this show at my grandma's house once or twice. All I remember was that the character designs were terrible IMO (I remember my mom hated them too) and I think they were always in the jungle and Allen always was dressed like a jungle man.

I always saw the show on weekday mornings, along with Extreme Ghostbusters I believe, while I was getting ready for school. I thought it was a fun enough series to pass the time. I can't really remember too much of what went on outside of the kids' constant disapointment in rescuing Alan (I think that was his name) and having to deal with the big game hunter and the crazy little guys with the tribal masks. The little boy was pretty hardheaded, iirc, and caused the bad stuff to happen.

I remember watching it as a kid and thinking it was alright. It was just "alright" as a kid though and nothing of it appeals to me anymore so I'm probably never going to check it out again.

The character designs weren't too bad, but then again I don't pay much attention to aesthetics, I tend to like storylines and premise. I do like the idea of the film Jumanji being made into a cartoon. Speaking of which I'm probably gonna watch the pilot episode later tonight.

There don't seem to be too many fans of this series at all...

He could sure design some scary monsters in Real Ghostbusters, though. The best-looking ghosts were his. He's obviously the go-to-man for ugly!

I used to watch it when I was young. Wasn't my favorite, but still enjoyable.

Didn't mind the character designs. If you can tolerate the works of Klasky-Csupo, you can tolerate anything.

They did Nickelodeon's Rugrats and The Wild Thornberry's too, right.

I am definitely glad that they put this series online and can't believed I missed a very interesting show.

I think it was pretty good. It was actually fairly dark and arguably had a better plot than the movie. You could also tell that the creators had alot of fun- like EGB, model sheets from the production appeared during the end credits.

I remember seeing this and Extreme Ghostbusters around the same time and found them both as good quality series. Bill Fagerbakke was the voice of Alan, and Ashley Johnson voiced Peter, who in quite a number of episodes turned into an animal during visits in Jumanji. Like the movie, Alan was trapped in the game for a couple of decades, but the series was different as there was no reset button and the kids played Jumanji in each episode in efforts to get Alan out. They eventually did, which led to a satisfying conclusion in the final episode. :)

I figured at least one of the adults (not Alan) seemed to have a larger role in the plot than she did in the film [Aunt Nora, the kids' legal guardian]. I remember the one episode where the Amazon queen was trying to force Alan's hand in marriage and Aunt Nora kicked her butt something fierce...

Hmm, I just thought of a question that's a relevant detail to my fanfic. Just how old were the four principal characters? I figure Alan was over thirty, as was Aunt Nora. Peter I'd figure was a pre-teen/teenager (11-13) and Judy maybe a couple years older (13-15).

I guess I thought Judy was a teenager on first guess.

As for Aunt Nora, I'd guess she was in her late twenties or early thirties by the look of things, but I'm not sure if that was an accurate guess.

Somehow I never thought the Peck who made Duckman was the same Peck on the RGB art team...I have a whole gallery of obscure RGB ghost designs on my site :)
