Julia Roberts - how do you rate her?

I think she's a very competent actress, I don't go along with those who say she's an average actress but by the same token, I disagree with those who say she's an excellent actress.

I think that the roles she plays are relatively easy (for an actress) and don't require too much from her. She never seems to step out of her comfort zone (with the exception of Mary Reilly, which I haven't seen, but have heard of) like some of her contemporaries - Jody Foster and Cate Blanchett (who I rate as the best two mainstream actresses).

On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being excellent, 10 being awful), I rate Julia Roberts a 7.
 
I would rate her as a 5. There are some films like Mystic Pizza and My Best FrienRAB Wedding where I think she is really good, but then things like Pretty Woman and Flatliners I think she is ok.
 
I think she's a great actress but I wouldn't say the best of her generation, and worth all the hype

I would rate her about a 6

She didnt deserve her oscar in 2000 it should have gone to Ellen Burstyn for Requiem For A Dream her performance was outstanding in that film
 
Not a bad actress, but not great by any stretch - thought she was good in pretty woman, a bit pedestrian in Notting Hill, and flaming awful in Oceans 12 - but then that was a horrible movie

I think someone who was in the right place at the right time and has starred in many pretty good films. If it's a Julie Roberts film, one does tend to take notice. Not a great great actress, but like I said, always seems to be in good films.
