Judge Me Tender - Episode Discussion

I noticed a couple things watching the episode again.

- In the opening sequence, Lisa was playing a trumpet instead of her saxaphone.
- When Moe became famous for his snide remarks as a judge, Krusty asked him if he could do his kid's birthday party. Kind of ironic since he's a clown.

I'm sure when they release the season 21 DVD set, the commentary will answer the question, if it isn't answered before then.

This was Simon Cowell's second appearance on The Simpsons....which appearance do you prefer?

Well, I didn't say it necessarily had to be improv as they could've decided earlier what they were going say (I mean, they were just judging like they normally do) but for the most part I agree with you guys. Ellen's bit was what made me ask b/c it totally sounded like something she would say.

Yeah, I think you have to be a major comic (or comic actor ala Albert Brooks) to get away with improvising your lines. Ellen may have done a little bit, but I can't imagine any of the others doing it.

I love how The Simpsons are always giving FOX a hard time. They're probably one of the few shows that can get away with it.

Yeah, Ralph's bleeped line was definitely epic. I was also pleased to see that Ellen got to dance (though they'd previously showed it in the previews). I wonder if the AI judges' lines were all scripted or if they had some input?

I mentioned it also on the Ralph thread. I wonder if we'll ever find out what he said. Would they place the uncensored scene on the DVD?

Not only did they mention both "Lost", in the last scene the guys at Moe's had to watch Jay Leno.

My favorite moments:
- Lisa asking people to buy band candy, whether in real life or thoughts
- Ralph and his bleeping mouth
- Dancing Ellen

I couldn't get the whole chalk board gag in time, but Huffington Post posted it.

I loved the little scene with Lisa and SLH, just because I thought it was really sweet of her to try and make him feel better.

I'm surprised they gave us two Moe episodes so close to one another.

Some of the competitions he was judging were great. I think my favorite was Bully Competition.

I loved when Moe asked all the guys in the bar to sound like women. :D

HanRAB down the funniest moment of the night was Ralph cursing like a sailor. :D

The chalkboard gag was funny...something about how everyone was watching Lost instead?

Overall, it was a decent episode. There were a lot of funny scenes and some odd ones. (What was up with Lisa and Santa's Little Helper scooting around the yard together?) I loved Homer hanging around, driving Marge crazy, and labeling all the eggs in the fridge.

"Even in the thought bubble, I have to buy band candy???"
