Jokes in Family Guy You Don't Get

Okay, I admit that most FG threads on this forum lead to flame wars, so please, let this be a SERIOUS thread. I do not know if a similar thread already exists.

This is an all-purpose thread for anyone to ask "Who's THAT character supposed to be?" or "What's THAT all about?" when they don't comprehend some of the humour in FG. Hopefully someone who knows will clarify the reference. I will later use the information from this thread to create an online encyclopedia designed to preserve today's contemporary humour for future generations. Details of the project can be found HERE.
 
Of what little of the show I've seen, there isn't much I don't comprehend (except that $100 million thing), but I find the show funny about 20% of the time.
 
As I've said before, I never understood why Lois or Peter are always telling Chris to go to his room. Usually they tell him to go to his room when he hasn't even done ANYTHING wrong. What am I not getting here???
 
As far as Chris going to his room for nothing, it really just makes a joke of Peter and Lois being incompetent parents most of the time. They get rid of him because they can and there's probably real parents who do the same. :p

Nah, nobody else believes that Chris has an evil monkey in his closet.

Like I said before, it's just a running gag and a sign of Peter and Lois' slack parenting. Parents send their kids to their rooms all the time for stupid and pointless reasons, plus, as I've pointed out before, in early episodes they've sent Meg to her room as well, so it's not like they're just picking on Chris. I think you guys are just reading too much into a light gag.
 
Ok, I'm a huge Family Guy fan, but I really don't get the Conway Twitty jokes, once was fine but wow, I think they let him play for like 3 minutes in one episode, I was disgusted! :mad:
 
I remember a few years ago, back when the show was still cancelled, hearing that the chicken fight was a spoof of something. I never found out what they were spoofing. :confused:
 
Remember that one scene where Brian and Stewie are playing this game? (I can't remember which one) Near the end, Brian tells Stewie to yell "Yahtzee", which Stewie does, then yells "HEY!" at Brian.
What's up with that?
 
The game was called... wait for it... "Yahtzee".

The joke I didn't get was this cutaway where a rebel pilot tells Luke Skywalker off for bragging about shooting womp rats. Afterwards, Luke just sort of shrugs while funny music plays in the background. I KNOW that's a reference to something, but I have no idea what.
 
Brian was explaining the game to Stewie. He told Stewie that when you win, you're supposed to shout "Yahtzee!" and Brian claimed that he and Stewie were going to shout it together, but it when it came time to do so, Brian didn't join him, so when Stewie yelled "YAHTZEE!" all by himself, Brian called him "Gay". Naturally, Stewie was ticked at Brian for doing that.
 
About half of the jokes I don't get... because I'm not too smart about pop culture of the past...

The Conway Twitty one I didn't get either, and the "Surfin' Bird" song I just didn't get at all...
 
The only FG gag I have never gotten is the one in "Live and Die in Dixie" where Peter says he feels lower than a bow-legged caterpillar and some guy chuckles and says "Now here's Roy".

I don't watch country stuff, so that could be why.
 
It was a reference to Hee Haw, which was co-hosted by Roy Clark and Buck Owens. The guy who says "Now here's Roy" was a caricature of Owens.
