joining the military?

im 18 years old and i've always been in and out of trouble all through highschool. now that i graduated, im so over partying and all my stupid friends. i want to do something with my life. i really want to leave everyone, go far away and join the military to help my country and become a stronger person. i dont know which one would be good for me and i was wondering how many years you are required to join. what's the least amount of years you have to join?
 
It depends on what you want to do after the military. Medicine, electronics, computer analysis?

If you want something technical, join the Navy or Air Force. If you are looking for something medical, go Army or Navy. If you are looking for law enforcement, all branches have good programs. If you want to see the world, go Navy. If you want to stay at home, go Air Force or Coast Guard.

Your enlistment is for a total of 8 years. The number is divided between Active Duty and inactive reserves. You may have an option on how long your active duty will be, so check with your recruiter.
