Joining the British Military, and eventually S.A.S.?

I plan on joining the military when I'm older, I'm a U.S. citizen but I was curious about joining the British military. In ethnicity I'm mostly British and I don't really like what the U.S. is fighting for. I don't quite know what the British are fighting for either but Its something I've wanted to do. Question time: Is it hard for a U.S. citizen to join the British military? And what are the branches of their military...army, navy etc.

Don't ask why I want to join their military and not my birth-country's.

I know there are British fighting in Iraq, that's a given as is the fact that it isn't the question.
