Joining the Army when I finish high school? Good idea or bad?

I know when I finish high school I really won't be doing anything and was hoping that the Army could help me out to do something in life.
 
Bad idea if you just think "what should I do? JOIN THE ARMY!"

If I were in your shoes I would look at all the different branches and find out which ones offer you the best benefits, and go with that one. If its the army, go with them, but at least be informed
