Joining the Army -Cancer Survivor?

I am 18 years old, I planned on joining the Army but found out i had Multiple Myeloma , a form of cancer, I graduate in 6 months from school and i really don't know what im gonna do.. I have been told that i have to be in remission for so long before i can enlist (5 years) ? Does any body have any advice Or been in this situation ?
