joining the army but a little worried?

i am joining the army im a little worried and if i have to go to war or something that's not good. i just want to go for school and to work. i don't know how it is but what i know is i am a little worried but i really want to join i been wanting to for the longest so can somebody give me a heads up how do i know if my recruiter is liying to me? idk im so anxious about all this.
