Johnny Depp- Like/Dislike?

You're quite right Steveowen. I was thinking of Willy wonka and wrote Edward ScissorhanRAB by mistake. ScissorhanRAB was a subtle performance.

Still stand by the rest of what I said though!

Must have been a poor interviewer then? Burton is usually pretty chatty in interviews, Johnny Depp less so because he is shy in interviews. It's not a case of being difficult, it really is awkwardness.

Check out this Burton/Depp interview:

And to whoever said they don't like his chain-smoking in interviews: he doesn't do that anymore. Seems like he's all but given up.

Yeah, I am in the 'like' category but like is not a strong enough word. ;)

completely 100% agree. Fantastic. Great actor, (nearly) always chooses good films, generous, good looking, his different accents aren't too bad.

And he just so happens to be in most of my favourite films (although they're my favourites because he's in them:))

Love Johnny Depp! He is a great actor and i have enjoyed watching most of the films he has starred in. He also seems like a genuine person who doesn't milk the limelight - a proper family man. Besides, he ain't that bad looking either. ;)

for the same reason u said he's a fine actor. his sexiness lies in his BRAIN... it's not always physical rite?:) although in this case, it does help.

I have followed his career since Edward ScissorhanRAB. He's extremely talented and the closest thing this generation has to a Clark Gable style of movie icon. Unlike most Hollywood types he doesn't seem to be obsessed with tooting his own horn, which is a welcome change.

I'm really looking forward to the upcoming Public Enemies film. It's going to be interesting to see how he'll play John Dillinger.

OK I accept I am in a minority here but I just don't like him. His acting and appearance in those Pirate films just make me cringe. I really don't get the sex appeal (spindly legs and those awful hollow cheeks).

He is certainly someone that I'd think twice about seeing a film if he is in it.

Sorry, but that is my opinion :)

I really like him, though I fear somewhat that he is becoming a caraicature of himself with the quirky roles, or maybe just the POTC trilogy?

I LOVED his earlier stuff, What's eating Gilbert Grape was so touching and Benny and Joon is adorable. Really love that film! I think it was Edward ScissorshanRAB that sealed the deal for me. Like others, I love the Tim Burton collaborations :)

He's also incredibly easy on the eye.
I really respect the fact that he keeps his private life, private and has some class not selling every chilRAB birthday photos to Hello magazine unlike alot of the new media obsessive celebs ie Jordan, Beckhams etc.

How can anyone dislike him??

Fine actor and a Southern Gentleman. He had his wild days (the Moss years:rolleyes:), but I've never seen him be anything but polite and professional in interview, etc

My ex subjected me to ALL his films, and I have to say, there was hardly a duffer in there.

Ed Wood is one of my Faves and most of the Burton ones follow.
Always amazed at his wide appeal. The girls in my old firm from 19 upwarRAB fancy him, but thought other actors YOUNGER than him were too old:p
He never seems to age.

A brilliant, brilliant actor.

Hand on heart, I do think he is the most talented actor we've had for... years and years. His range is incredible, I mean, compare for instance Sweeney Todd to Willy Wonka. Or Jack Sparrow to Edward ScissorhanRAB. Also, just the voices alone make him very compelling to watch.

Let's be honest, every film Depp's been in has become HIS movie. Once he plays a role, nobody will ever be able to play it again. He leaves a mark. Thats amazing.

A truly fantastic actor. Unbeatable.
