The Director of Die Hard has been sent to jail for one year!

I know Last Action Hero was a bad film but surely this is taking things too far. If John's got 12 months then Roland Emmerich should be sentenced to life for Godzilla/Independence Day:D

Actually, John's been jailed for his involvement in a wire-tapping scandal in America. He hired a private investigator to spy on a movie producer and lied about it when the FBI questioned him. A $100,000 fine as well. Seems a bit harsh.

I was surprised he hasn't made a film since Basic in 2003 actually. His hit-to-flop ratio isn't bad at all with Die Hard1&3, Predator, Hunt for Red October and The Thomas Crown Affair on the plus side. Rollerball, LAH and The 13th Warrior on the negative.

I've always thought he was one of the better action directors of his time, does good audio commentaries as well. I like how he pays attention to casting of minor characters in his films. The Die HarRAB are a great example of this.

When he gets out they should give him a go at Die Hard 5 so he gets all the odd-numbered ones in the series. Couldn't be any worse than 4.0
 
LIES! Die Hard 3 was one of the best, Actually, I'd rate his two films as the top examples of Die Hard, Die Hard 1 being the obvious classic and Die Hard 3 being the actual big next step for McClane.

Die Hard 2 felt too soon and too much of a rehash of Die Hard 1, just set in an Airport and often dragged at times unlike Die Hard 1 and 3, as for Die Hard 4.0, well, talk about total change of character, the new watered down PG-13 John just didn't suit him added with that his super hero like abilities just felt like such a departure from the first three.

IF they do a Die Hard 5, to end it off, then yeah, I do want McTiernan to do it and I do want it to be rated 18 again so they can bring back the old McClane!
 
Michael Bay would get a death sentence !

Mctiernan does seemed to have lost his way the last 10 years , but he was great once .
 
what a shock!!
i love Die Hard and Predator - and always hoped for more good action films!
he isnt dead though. and i am sure after he has done his time, there will more films to look forward too. well, i hope (maybe nobody will hire him?)
