I think John would be baffled by the lack of connection between voters and their representatives. I think if he looked at the voter rolls, and the participation rates, at the rate of reelection for incumbants, he would throw up his hands, and realize the modern politician is doing nothing but getting rich.
He would have no advice for those whose fondest ambition is to die either rich or in power or both.
