John Carpenter's The Thing.

Have you played the computer game?

It's brilliant, continues on from where the film left off, think I had the PS2 version. You have teammates you have to 'trust', and the atmosphere is just like the film.

Survival horror at it's best.

It does seem like a bit of an Alien rip-off but the writer of Alien, Dan O' Bannon had previously written Dark Star with John Carpenter and Alien owes something to Dark star.

At first I didn't like the idea of a remake, but now I'm warming to the idea.
I can see why they want to do it - if the studios want to make a sequel, then they first have to remake the original, so as to get the modern style and continuity of actors / special effects, etc. They seemed to do this quite sucessfully with Texas Chainsaw Massacre - I've only seen the sequel to the remake ("The Beginning"), and was impressed with it. I'd like to see the remake now.

'The Thing' is on ITV4 tonight at 10.55pm.

I think that ITV4 are doing a John Carpenter season and 'Escape From New York' is on right now, 'The Thing' follows it at 10.55pm.

I must have seen this film lots of times before, and yet it's still a film that I can still get excited about looking forward to seeing again.

If you haven't seen it before...then watch it. It'll be a treat for you to enjoy.

:)

Nothing like Alien in my Opinon Dan O'Bannon only wrote the screenplay that was adapted from the novel 'Who Goes there' John W. Campbell, Jr. under the pen name Don A. Stuart, published August 1938. Both Versions of the Thing are good. I dont want to see another remake
