John 10:30=
New International Version, 1984
I and the Father are one."
New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures
I and the Father are one.”
King James Bible
I and [my] Father are one.
But than Jesus also states:
John 17:21-23=
King James Bible
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, [art] in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
New International Version, 1984
that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures
in order that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in union with me and I am in union with you, that they also may be in union with us, in order that the world may believe that you sent me forth. Also, I have given them the glory that you have given me, in order that they may be one just as we are one. I in union with them and you in union with me, in order that they may be perfected into one, that the world may have the knowledge that you sent me forth and that you loved them just as you loved me.
Because people say, John 10:30 is saying that this is Jesus stating he is God, but than how would you explain the other verse than?
if you take John 10:30 to mean that Jesus is saying he is God, because they are one, than later on in John at 17:21-23 you get him talking about us being one just as him and his father are one, and also one with him as he is with his father.
So if than taking John 10:30 to mean Jesus is saying he is his Father. Than by the same logic used in John 10:30, applied to John 17:21-23, we would all be a part of the godhead, or trinity? Or does that mean we are also Jesus?
How does the two get reconciled?
How do you discern the different meanings, even though the same terms and conditions are used?
