Hello folks, not sure if this is the right place to post this or not.. But been trying to google my way to an answer but cant find anything ( not Ontario at least). Who Does the bell tv installs in Toronto or GTA? Is it bell directly or is it sub contracted?

I know someone whos interested and wants to become an installer.. hes looked and hes asked me to look however i cant find much info on it. If anyone knows anything please feel free to share in this thread, or via PM if needed.

If this is not allowed to be posted here then by all means please remove the thread. Just looking for some answers n figured this is the best place to find em.

Thanks in advanced folks!

I work for a company that sub-contracts the tv installs. Its Call QX Technology. Its a divison of a company called Aecon. Thats the company i work for which also contracts for bell. There is 2 QX divisions, the other is called QX Splicing so make sure you find QX Technology. Hope this helps.

I am hearing lots of changes happening at QX. Not all of them good ones.

Namely all the Sub Contract Installers are about to take a $15+ cut in the price for a basic single receiver Installation.

If your buddy is really interested, tell him to drive to their office and chat with the installers at the rear one morning, it might just change his mind.....lol

Another Company is Vu Point Systems, they cover an area East of Toronto as well as a large chunk of London/Windsor.

Another smaller operation, is a retailer in Barrie, ICT North, they do installations just about anywhere in the GTA as well but are still small and friendly.....

I think ICT North only does installations of their own sales, if I am not mistaken. There is also another northern conpany, that actually contracts to Bell, that goes by TIG. I think it stands for The Installation Group.

SEI is the other big company, but they are in Eastern ontario. QX, SEI and I think TIG and ICT are all owner/operator set-ups whereas that Vupoint has both Owner/Operator and employees. Makes a difference in the way you handle yourself. A lot more upfront costs as O/O but bigger pay-outs.

Pinza is right, grab a couple techs (not just one, might have a chip on his shoulder) and ask them what they think about it, and they will probably be pretty honest as to how they see it.

Well i passed on the info. He emailed ICT about working for them and they asked to send in his resume. He did so.. however he also emailed back to ask if they received his application and no one ever emailed back. he applied today to Vupoint. I believed he aslo applied to QX although their currently not hiring any installers in the Ontario region.

Vu Point closed down Barrie.

They were at one time almost 100% Employee based but now are pushing even the employees to become Sub Contractors.

I hear, through the grapevine, that they have some very unsavory practices though, so check all the details, before embarking on a career with these guys.
