I am so tired of all this Twilight VS Harry Potter stuff going on. I've been an HP since forever, and I love Twilight, too, so I'm not sure which one to pick lol. But I know that Meyer is beating Rowling big-time in the best-seller lists, so I just hope Rowling is writing up something good to get back in competition. Your comments?
And does anyone know if Rowling is working on enother series/novel?

I'm a Harry Potter fan and have never read Twilight, so I can't get too involved in the debate. I'm sure that I would still like HP better even if I did read Twilight.
Meyer is probably beating Rowling in the best-seller lists because it's been almost a year since Deathly Hallows came out, so the hype has gone down. As for Rowling writing to get back in the game...I don't think she cares much. I don't think she plans to top Harry Potter anytime soon or start churning out books just to get back into the competition. She has said she's got some book ideas in her head and half-plotted on paper though.

I never read Harry Potter before but I like the movies I couldn't pick which one but I have to say Rowling got her ideas from and old movie called Troll and Lord of the Rings and other stuff, but Meyer kinda made the story alot by herself but I mean a vamp like a human isn't that new. idk all i can say that they are both really good books.

I am a great fan of both. I've loved hp since I was nine, and it's what got me into reading, so I'm always going to have a soft spot for it, it made me find the delight in reading!

HOWEVER, if I compare the two - twilight is winning atm, but that just might be that I'm a big romantic and HP books are over, and twilight still has one more book in the series left!

I seriously doubt that J.K.R will come up with anything that will beat out her harry potter or twilight off the charts. She's a good writer but HP seems like one of those miracles that just is.

I vote Twilight. Though Harry Potter is really good.

Rowling is going to write another book/series on Harry Potter, but HAry won't be the main character, she said shes not going to do this for a couple a years. She needs a break.

No one, and I mean NO ONE will "beat" JKR.

I read Twilight, and it's just a silly love triangle. not everyone's cup of tea. this question is making me angry, so I'll leave it at that.

Janel W.....Harry Potter is nothing like the Lord of the Rings....Everything about Harry Potter is J.K. Rowling's own brilliant mind at work...

As for the beating Harry Potter.Stephenie Meyer is a great author, but no where near the author J.K. Rowling is. J.K. Rowling is a living legend....The first Harry Potter book sold a staggering 120 million copies...It is best selling fantasy novel in history and the 3nd best selling novel of any genre. The 2nd best selling novel is "And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie wich was published in like the 1930's and has sold around 125 million copies. I would say in a few years the first Harry Potter book will top that. And, the all time best selling novel is "The Count of Monte Cristo" which was published over 100 years ago and has sold about 200 million copies. Give Harry Potter another 25-30 years and it will have outsold it too. Probably sooner than that at the rate they are going.

The whole twilight series all 4 books haven't sold 120 million copies. So she is no where near beating J.K. Rowling. J.K. Rowling appeals to both boys and girls, men and women, and adults and children. It's already made history and will continue to make history. "Twilight" is like one of those one time hit '80's bands. Give it a while and you won't hear much from it. Harry Potter will live on. In 10 years the whole Harry Potter series has sold over 400 million copies worldwide making J.K. Rowling the only living billionaire author. If Stephenie ever reaches the level of J.K. Rowling, it will probably take her about 50 years. Look at Stephen King. He has written over a 100 novels and short stores and he still isn't near J.K. Rowling. He's sold I believe around 280 million copies worldwide.

Oh Yeah!
J.K. Rowling said she isn't going to write anything about Harry Potter or the magical world except the "Harry Potter Encyclopedia" that she is currently working on. She said she is afraid she will borrow to much from the actual Harry Potter series. She is almost finished with a book for younger kids. She said it's kind of like a long fairytale. She said that will be the next thing she publishes.

The woman could write about a donkey and I would read it.
