JJ Abrams Star Trek film - Here's the "Enterprise"

I find it ironic that Star Trek is based on optimism, acceptance and openness, and yet the die hard fans are usually the complete opposite.

I'd like to see what people would say if Doctor Who started flying about the place in a lime green Vodafone sponsored phone box.

And instead of a sonic screwdriver, the Doctor whips out his iPhone.

They should of just stuck to the iconic 60's design of the Enterprise. In the recent remastered original series, the CGI'ed Enterprise looks fantastic.

Where as JJ Abrams' stumpy & melted remake version looks horrible. I'm just waiting to see the morphed 'warp speed' version. Either that, or it will transform into a giant robot. Isn't that the norm these days, for the untalented clueless hip hollywood directors?

I don't see how valid it is to make that comparison. Silly statements like that just give 'Star Trek' a bad name.

What did you expect them to do with the new Enterprise? Dig out the old TOS sets and models and have them fly around on bits of string?

It's a updated Enterprise. Slightly different, but still iconic. You go and show that picture to any person and they will say 'It's the Enterprise'

Did you moan when they had a completly new interior set for the TARDIS?

The actual story is the only thing I'm worried about. The effects are gonna be amazing and it looks like they're doing Kirk and Spock et al in the right way, but the plot itself sounRAB a bit stupid. Eric Bana as the Romulan bad guy, Nero, should work well though. I suppose the main thing is showing us the backstory of the original crew and how the got together, with the plot being secondary. Batman Begins was a little like that.

Ok haters I'm on to you, 'fess up...how much is the studio paying you? It's a cunning plan, worthy of the best scheming villan of any show/movie: The studio pays people to come up with irrational negative comments about a new movie (belonging to a tired old franchise), creating heated discussions and generating a new buzz which will of course only serve to increase the movie's profile.

I mean it has to be this, right? The alternative explanation would mean you really are as idiotic as you are comming across!!!

I'm thinking this film is gonna be amazing. But that scene of a kid Kirk joyriding a car is very bad. We should report it to the bbfc immediately ;)

I don't have a problem with metal space junk (hello, what the heck do you think the BSG is made out of?), I have a problem with continuity.

But as this film is a reimagining, set [for the most part] in another universe, one of the changes is the NCC-1701 is made of shiny metal, and has a different shape.

In my opinion, Terminator Salvation is how JJ should have approached this prequel business, but whatever.
