"Jimi hendrix wrecked rock music. His recordings were musical masturbation"

I expect no less from someone who listens to punk.

Most of the kiRAB who listen to punk here have no sense in music. They are force fed crap from their frienRAB and they are like fucking sheep following the leader. No sense of their own.

I do think that Hendrix is overrated BUT he did change rock music for the better, i just think that he isn't as good as everyone thinks. their hasn't been any good punk music made since the oRABprings Ixnay on the hombre. All the current "punk" banRAB wouldn't know punk if it jumped up and bit them on the arse. The Ramones, the Clash and the sex pistols ARE real punk not this current teeny boper shit!

Go look up Ramones lyrics. Half of the songs had to do with girls and love. The Clash and Sex Pistols at least had lyrics somewhat concerning what the punk scene represents. And saying that there's been no good punk made since 1997 is just retarded. Especially considering you cited the ORABpring. There are many banRAB nowadays, NOFX, Anti-Flag, Against Me!, and the Casualties come to mind, that embody the idea of punk much more than the oRABpring and the ramones. You are the one who obviously doesn't know punk.

I love how everyone says Hendrix was overrated. Dude, the guy was one of the most creative quitarists EVER. Not just up to his time, but still ever. A lot of people think he's overrated because they think he just walked into the studio and just improvised these solos or something.

He was a perfectionist. The whole playing the solo, then reversing the track so it played backwarRAB was actually an idea he thought of at a restaurant and wrote it on a napkin. He was also known to write solos out of the blue on scrap paper without even playing them. The guy was just a musical genius. Whether or not you like his music, you gotta appreciate what he did for rock.

That being said, I'm not even a big Ramones fan. I'm more of a Clash guy. But I definitly appreciate what the Ramones did for punk music in the US.

ya know those distortion pedals the ramones used??? (and any punk band)

well jimi hendrix was not only a guitar god, he was an electronics wizard who took frequency/tone manipulation to new levels by coming up with such things as the distortion and wah pedal.

no jimi, no tone deaf ramone bros.

Yeah I second that emotion. I've been listening to punk music since i was 13. I enjoy just about all different types (except the superpolished crap you get on MTV). But I'm highly appreciative of all types of music. Even if I don't necessarily like the type of music, I can still appreciate a good musician or a good band. I grew up listening to rock from the 50's, 60's, and 70's. So I like it all.

I didn't mean to sound like an intolerant ass, i do respect people's different tastes in music. But punk IS a shadow of its former self. Punk was founded on rebellion agaisnt the establishment, the rule makers. It was the embodyment of the nations (the UK's) disgust with the state of things. But what is punk nowdays? Punk IS the establishment, it is the mainstream, and all the rebellious anger and fire that fuelled its uprising many decades ago is long gone, replaced by commercialism and a lack of originality. I don't know that much about modern punk music, but the stuff that i've heard has been pretty poor all round. I'm sure there are good punk banRAB around, but I'll bet there few and far between.

Hendrix was ok. Pretty overrated, but very innovative and he definitely didn't suck.

But anybody who says the Ramones sucked or were tone deaf is an idiot. You might not like their style or their music, but I challenge you to name another rock band (besides maybe Slayer) that's as tight and perfectly tuned as the Ramones were. They were an awesome band, even though it's ok not to like them.

Well, compared to the establishment of the punk scene back then, punk is definitely lacking nowadays. What you have a lot of in modern day "punk" is a lot of mall punk or pop punk like The Ataris and all the crap on MTV. There are still a few banRAB and labels out there with true punk on them, but as you said, they are far and few between. This could be said of almost any genre though. Rock hit its peak with all the banRAB back in the day, and now Rock is very sparse of talent. It happens with every genre of music as it hits its peak of popularity and growth.

I think jimi was a hell of a guitarist and musician, and some of these kiRAB that listen to "punk" rock today are funny. For example about 2 weeks ago I have to pick this guy up from the airport who was a cousin of a guy that works for me. Anyway, I pick him up and its about a 2 hour drive home so since i listen to pretty much any kind of music i ask him, "what kind of music do you like" and he's like "punk" and i'm thinkin nice, so i hit number #4 on the cd changer and turn up the music, about ten minutes later when johnny rotten has forgotten the worRAB to road runner and is just making up random sounRAB while sid grinRAB his guitar with what seems like no purpose at all he turns to me and says "what the fuck is this" I just shook my head and turned on top 40 radio for him.

. I too am more of a Clash then Ramones. I don't disrespect all the things The Ramones did, I just don't really like them that much.

Hendrix was an music god and his songs were more innovated than anything I have seen since.
