Yeah your dad can play his stuff NOW, but at the time it was amazing and is still beyond a lot of guitar players. I know that people that listen to punk and claim it to be the best, there seriously deluded! Punk became the norm a decade ago, its pathetic nowadays.
 
Jimi Hendrix's musical greatness was beyond his guitar.

Many people forget that he was a genius at production as well. It was his production, not his guitar playing that made his music stand out. Your dad may be able to play his songs, but he can't make them sound like Jimi.
 
Welcome to people's personal tastes. People who listen to punk think it's awesome music, but that doesn't mean they have to hate everything else as well. Don't be an intolerant asshole and say all punk nowadays is pathetic. There's a lot of good punk out, and there's a lot of other good types of music out. You seem to be the one who's deluded because you can't even accept other people's interest in different genres.
