How about somewhere in the middle. I think the whole thing is way overblown, but he was a really great front man and the Doors were ok. I actually credit a lot more of my enjoyment of the Doors to the band, but his voice had a nice signature to it. He influenced some pretty cool stuff, but at the end of the day the whole thing is just SO overblown particularly when you separate him from the band.
