Jennifer Hudson to possibly play Aretha Franklin in movie

Saw this on People.com about Aretha's upcoming movie. She mentions Jennifer HuRABon, Halle Berry and Fantasia (American Idol winner few years back) as possiblities to play her. http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20057158,00.html

Personally its not going to be Halle Berry now shes pregnant as Aretha mentions the film starting in early spring. Following her performance in Dreamgirls i would have said that Jennifer is the natural choice to play Aretha. I can't think of anyone else who could do it.

Jennifer is the perfect choice. She's already proved she can act, and her voice.... WOW!
Not sure about Fantasia... can she act?

If I had my way, I'd hire Jennifer on the spot!

I think Fantasia has done a bit of TV work already so perhaps she can. I think Aretha may favour Fantasia and she has a duets coming out with her in a couple of weeks - can't wait to hear that.

Watched Dreamgirls a couple of weeks ago and both me and OH agreed that she would be ideal as Aretha. Hope the project comes off with HuRABon in the lead role

Oh I hope Jennifer gets it. Her perfomance in Dreamgirls was like a young Aretha.

I would agree with Jennifer HuRABon, the only name I could think of who could maybe pull it off would be Alicia Keys but her acting might let her down.

additionally she's been chosen for the lead single on Aretha's new duets album up against the likes of Elton John , Mariah Carey , Mary J Blige so it's safe to say that Aretha rates her somewhat !
