This is a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8. It has always been a reliable vehicle. It has been sitting for a few years untouched in a garage and now it won't start. The battery is dead and I have no charger. I connected it with jumper cables to another vehicle and it cranks pretty strong. It has half a tank of gas left. I added a gallon of fresh gas also.
The car has a theft deterrent system that disables the car from starting. The system is activated when the battery goes dead and then the power is supplied. This happened when I first tried the jumper cables, but the system was is disabled by unlocking the car by inserting and turning the actual key. It disabled the system and turned off the security light as expected.
I am thinking that there is probably something simple going on. Any ideas what it could be?
