i recently got a 93 jeep yj everything is great except the rearend. its not very urgent but makes a grinding noise like drum brake shoes dragging. i took the wheels off today and the brake shoes are connected like they should be so thats not the issue. then i took apart the rearend there i saw a random bearing pin riding up against the right axle inside the diff i thought maybe that could be it. i also took out the pinion shaft and the gear of the pinion shaft where the middle small spider gears of the diff ride on has small chips on some of the teeth. could that be the problem causing the noise? the pinion shaft gear that has small chips on the teeth or something else? btw i also check all the bearings of the diff and they are in good cond. and seals so that gives me a hint that someone repaired the diff before.
