jeep stalling problems?

my 93 jeep cherokee 4.0 idles fine at stops and is fine for normal driving, but if i press the gas lightly coming out of a stop (such as a redlight in traffic) it will to stall and if i punch the gas hard the belts squeal ungodly for about 2-4 seconds. anybody got any ideas why? help is greatly appreciated
 
If you have a check engine light on take it to a auto parts store and they can let ya know what u need and most likly sell ya one..,
