Ok So on my 01 cherokee classic im having a problem with the rpms bouncing. It only seems to happen when Im going 50 - 90 mph. And only when im maintaining a constant speed. (not acceleration or decelerating) The spark plugs, coil pack and fuel filter were all changed. Im gonna check the gap on the plugs tomorrow. But would that cause that kind of problem? The rpm fluctuation is around 200 rpms enough to see and feel. It doesnt happen all of the time but enough to notice. Any clues on what to do next and what the worst case is. Thanks
its not the spedo. I can physically feel the car slowing jerking slightly when the rpms bounce. I dont think it is hurting anything it just gets a bit annoying thats why I want to fix it

Try adjusting your idol. This happens in my Montero Sport. It has bad shocks and rattles things loose. I do it myself. There is a small screw that adjust and takes the idol up and down. Start the car and have a friend watch the rpms while you adjust the screw. It should rest right above 0 when sitting still.

This may not be your problem but it works for my Montero.

Prob the throttle position sensor they get a bad spot on them after awhile right in the speed range that you describe. Where they are used the most It's easy to test with a multimeter just set it on Ohms reading and work the sensor manually the transitions on the scale should be smooth with no jerking and no dead areas.
