Jeep grand cherokee Oxygen sensor?

Yes a o2 sensor could cause the slow acceleration and once it gets warmed up the car may have more gusto but be careful if I were you I'd spend 60 bucks or so to have a reliable mechanic perform a full certification check and run a scan on it so you can confirm the o2 sensor problem.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way regardless how nice etc the vehicle seems or how much you want a vehicle , be sure to get any used vehicle checked over before ever buying it, check car fax etc.

I just got back from test driving a used 2001 grand cherokee. The guy told me he took in to the shop and the mechanic told him he had a bad oxygen sensor. the guy is selling it as is cause he doesn't want to spend the money to get it fixed. When I started the jeep the engine sounded loud and with my foot to the floor it would not accelerate, i continued driving it and after a while it accelerated fine. could that be because of the oxygen sensor?
