I have a 2001 Grand Cherokee and the A/C is not blowing cold. Here is what it is doing.
The system was empty and I charged it with 1 can of a/c sealant and 2 cans of freon. The compressor keeps cycling on and off for about 5 seconds on and 5-10 seconds off. Air is blowing warm from the vents.
Here is the weird part. Every now and again I hear a noise that sounds like pressure being released from under the car that lasts for about 2 seconds and I can see and smell the freon. It is pretty loud and sounds pretty forceful.
It is like for some reason there is a pressure relief valve or something that it letting the freon out for a few seconds. I only added leak sealant because I thought it was a leak. But I think maybe the reason freon is gone is because of this pressure release. Also, the "pressure release" seems to happen more when I accelerate the car when driving.

No I didn't open any valves. I didn't know anything about bleeding air. I just hooked up the freon cans you buy at the parts stores.
