My 97 wrangler with 2.5L after getting to full operating temp. the oil drops to zero psi at idle. if i shut it off and let it sit for five mins it comes back up. it also has what sounds like a rod knock, but this is only heard at high rpm's and is mostly audible without a load on the engine. if i take my foot off the gas and hold it at a constant rpm it knocks very loud. if i accelerate or coast i don't hear it. Also the oil looks terrible. its not low but the condition of it is awful. i know it needs to be changed. but will changing the oil bring back my low pressure and stop the knock? maybe a thick oil like 20W-50? or will this do nothing?
