i went to autozone and the diagnostic scan showed misfires in cyliders 1,2 and 3.
i replace the plugs about 3 wks ago.
everyone seems to think that it is the coil packs, the 2001 has a distributorless ignition and it has a bar with 3 coil packs on it that goes across all six spark plugs.
i live in florida and it has been very hot down here. put it this way the water in my swimming pool is 90 plus degrees and that is with out a heater.

what else could cause these misfires? it is sputtering, very rough idle and if you mash on the gas it will buck severely.
when sitting at a light it acts like it wants to stall but doesnt'
it just shakes alot.
2001 Cherokee 4.0L inline 6 cylinder, 242 cubic inch, with distributorless ignition. 2 wheel drive , AW4 4 speed automatic transmission
the connection to the coil pack bar is tight and the whole bar plugs onto the spark plugs and is bolted to the cylinder head
The coil pack bar is $129 at autozone.
could a bad sensor also cause three cylinders to misfire and if so which one

Sounds like the coil packs or the wires going to them are coming off going to the plugs. It's gonna have to go to the dealer far a engine check up.You have too many high dollar parts just to start changing them.
