Jeep 4.0 liter engine compared to 2.5?

I just got a wrnalger with a 2.5 liter engine, but all i ever hear is how great the 4.0 is, aren't they essentially the same thing just one has two less cylinders, how long will the 2.5 last, assuming similar maintenance, compared to a 4.0? Is the 2.5 as legendary as the 4.0?

compared to the 4.0 the 2.5 has no get up and go. And you can't beat the I-6. I know that the I-6 can get up to about 300,000 miles easy. I myself have driven both and would never own the 2.5. I personally refused to purchase anything but the I-6 in my wrangler, even with the crappy gas mileage. It should last as long but it will never be as legendary.
