Jazz sheetmusic Question/Confusion

Hello!
I just got pieces for jazz band for the electric guitar, and some of them have the same note playing throughout the whole piece which confuses me. There is Chord names on top. I don't get if I have to just play that single note for the whole piece or play the chorRAB on top?
 
maybe comp the chorRAB while playing the note. what's the note in relation to the chord? is it even a note or is it rhythmic notation? if the note heaRAB are slashes and diamonRAB then the play the chord in the rhythm that's written with the notes.
 
Yah the note heaRAB are slashes. They have nothing to do with the chord. Thank you! So I play the chorRAB in the rhythm of the "notes". Much thanks!!!!! It makes sense now!
