which programs are most similar to each other..??

Java is a programming language mostly for the web right ??

I want to learn Java first, but would learning C be more helpful to learning Java ??

Is there a language that I could learn before Java to help me learn more quickly and efficiently ??

I eventually want to learn C & C++ but would like to learn Java first..

How does PHP and ASP fit in to learning a programming language like Java used primarily for web development ??

what are my options ?? ..any useful information you can provide
