Jason and the Argonauts remake

There have been a lot of pointless remakes recently. Nearly all of them have not been as good as the original.
Oceans eleven, The hills have eyes, Casino Royale are the only ones, off the top of my head, that have been worth doing/seeing. ( i'm sure there are a few more, but not many)

The one film i think would be fantastic if remade, Jason and the Argonauts. The effects would be amazing, although not as ground breaking as Ray Harryhausens', the acting could be improved on as well.

Anyone else think of any worthy remakes? ( NOT JAWS!!)

Jason and the Argonauts? Talk about fleecing moviegoers!

How about gathering the Ocean's team together for a remake of The Great Escape?

Still hoping for a Battle Royale remake ideally directed by Paul Verhoeven

Jason and the Argonauts has already been remade once - as a tv mini-series in 2000 and tbh I thought it was better than the 1963 film (which I like anyway) due to it being a lot closer to the original tale.

Sacrilege!!! There is no way on goRAB green earth you can improve on Jason and the Argonauts. Re-makes are never as good as the original. Apart from John Carpenters 'The Thing' which even to this day is an awesome movie. Also I do quite like the remake of Dawn of the Dead

There was a thread a while back on trying to think of a remake that was better than the original and, apart from a massive argument about Dawn of the Dead (and I'm with you on this one in that I quite liked it) ( but the original was better), it was universally agreed that The Fly remake was better than the original.

Yeh I agree Thin. The original Dawn of the Dead is awesome and the remake are both good movies. I love the way in the modern day they changed the zombies to being super fast and super strong (like 28 days later). I think some of the purists don't like the fact that the format was changed. However I think scenes like the little girl at the begining, her parents rush to help her (as you would) and then she chews on her daRAB nec. Awesome

Oh the horror!!! as discussed somewhere else - they are remaking Hellraiser!!!! how could our Clive allow such a thing! Doug Bradly aint involved! the pain!

A remake of Jason would be good thou. the original is perfect, of course.
Certainly would love to see a remake of the Valley Of Gwangi - i didnt like the orignal at all (apart from Ray Harryhausen's effects, of course) but i did like the concept. a modern version with GCI Allosaurous's fighting cowboys would be lovely!

But, but, but.... you just can't! Besides anything, they'd Hollywoodise it, and have everyone surviving and meeting up for a beer back in the UK!

Hollywood these days is a different thing to what it used to be. The Hills Have Eyes is an example. In the original they all died, in the remake they didn't. Changing endings of remakes to make them 'happier' seems to be quite common.

They'd probably have all the escapees be American and all the Nazis played by English actors

An English made version could have Vinny Jones, Danny Dyer, Jason Statham... Actually the US version would be better!
