This isn't including other forms of CP. The CP industry alone in Japan is supposedly bigger than the US internet porn industry.
 
The main problem with this particular thread, and threadstarter, is that it's a combination of dubious sources, a bit of exaggeration and quite a bit of him making it sound as if Japan is the worst country in the world or somesuch, while he simultaneously ignores or distorts anything that doesn't fit.

It's a bit like his hangup on the age of consent, which in effect is higher in much of Japan than in a lot of western countries, what with regional ordnaces overriding the base-law.

Kiddie-pron obviously isn't cool, but quoting some sensationalist article which in turn quotes some IMO dubious sources accomplishes nothing.

The whole business with cartoon porn being such a problem in Japan is also a bit strange, what with how it's actually treated in the rest of the world.

It's also a bit funny, reading the article, that it says:

That hardly sounds as if child-pornography, in cartoons or not, is acceptable by a majority, and furthermore, as that quote concerns cartoons alone, you have to wonder how many more would object to the real thing.

All of that, coupled with all the nasty crap going on in a lot of western presumably more advanced cultures (at least that's how I'm reading him), wrt child abuse and whatnot, makes me wonder how much worse Japan is than anywhere else, really, if at all, when it comes to actual abuse and directly harmful actions rather than some idealized notion of innocence and (extremely and unpleasantly so) youth being desirable.

You should get out and about more. There is an awful lot of truly awful stuff happening out there that is far worse than a few cartoons. So what is your view of the fact that half of all marriages in Afghanistan are to girls under 14 (some well under 14)?


As to your second, the fact that you constantly deflect real abuse like that which I have just mentioned to talk about cartoons sounds like an anti-Japanese rant to me. The simple fact is that Japan is no more dangerous than most other developed countries and a lot safer than most places on this planet. You might not like their culture but girls there could be born into far worse socieities. It is not exactly a bundle of laughs being a girl in Saudi Arabia or Iran or in some of the African countries where a virgin is considered a cure for aids (the desperate will clutch at any straw).

And on a somewhat unrelated note, a vietnamese friend and I was watching some haduri-vids yesterday (Korean thingie), and I found it really unpleasant (she didn't notice, I don't think) finding some tards commenting on on whether some girl (can't have been more than 12 or so) was a virgin or not and so forth (it got worse), and this was westerners (at least I'm pretty sure it was) making those comments.

Some seriously nasty people come out to play, from all over, on the internet, and people viewing young girls as sex-objects, at that.

Pedophiles are the ones that watch child porn, cartoon or not.

Eventually it will escalate. The point is there's a huge market for child porn when there shouldn't be one at all.

But lets ignore the fact that the $6 billion is fuelled by pedophiles. Its just cartoons!!! WHY SO BAD?!!?

If the cartoon CP industry alone is $6 billion i dont want to know what happens in the real world. Its just revolting. Whats more revolting are the Japanese who instead of being revolted are actually defending this.

I suppose we could set up specific threads to trash every single country - I mean there are only a couple of hundred countries - :unsure: although I don't know a lot about the Marshall Islands or Djibouti.

Just trying to set some sort of context level for the evil of cartoons versus real life - not making a lot of headway though. :frusty:

To be honest I am not desperately familar with Manga but I have noted that in the little I have seen it does feature school uniforms a lot but that the girls in the uniforms have bewbs like Sam Fox - :unsure: so I am not sure if that really counts as CP.
