Japanese Stores Slashing 20GB Prices.

PS3 is fucking dying in Japan, and in the US it isn't faring much better.

It's going to be interesting to see how well it sells in Europe, where it is going to be the most expensive of any of the territories. In the UK it is selling for 425 pounds, which is $840 at current exchange rates.

In the rest of Europe, it is going to sell for 599 euros which is about $777 at current exchange rates.

People are saying that initially 20 gig units won't even be available in Europe.

I agree, Sony imo should just take the hit and drop the price another 50 bucks or even 100 for the 20 gig. Xbox would be forced to release something to compete with it in terms of hardware, while the ps3 sold like hotcakes.

in the long run i don't know if that would be worth it to them. whether they drop the price now or later they'll probably end up selling the same amount. if people really want them now they will buy them now regardless of price. in 6 months or so when they have at least 30-40 games in their library, now THAT'S when it would make sense for them to drop the price a bit to steal some of MS's business. this way they maximize profits on the systems they are selling, and then when they drop the price later they will be making it up in volume.
