Interesting to hear...I've lived in Japan for almost seven years, and more and more, Japanese young people have lost interest in the West, particularly America. The generation of youn people who are in their thirties now may have listened to Madonna or Aerosmith when they were teenagers, but young people nowadays aren't really into foreign music or movies as much anymore. And learning English is still necessary for work, but English conversation as a hobby has declined as well.
