Japanese Characters in American cartoons

Yes we are only counting Japanese characters, Dana is not Japanese she doesn't count.

Again I'm looking for Japanese characters that don't fit into a stereotype. Those two are interesting characters, but they do fall into the ninja super villain role.

You forgot about the David Bowie joke. I know Seth makes of everyone, but again that doesn't suit the purpose of this thread.

Oroku Saki/Shredder isn't really "Japanese". The only time it shows he's from Japan is in the first movie, when he takes off his mask and remembers the scar he got from Splinter when he was just Yoshi's pet rat. In the original series, he was white, and in the 2003 series, he turned out to be an Utrom criminal.

How about Kimi Finster from Rugrats/All Grown Up? She didn't strike me as stereotypical...at least, not as much as other Japanese that show up in cartoons.

Family Guy - "How come I rich and you naw!"

Actually, I think that guy was supposed to be Chinese. It's so hard to tell which race is which when it comes to Asians in Family Guy.

On the other end of the spectrum, there are some good views of East Asia in modern animation. Avatar offered a pretty decent Eastern-empathy based view, and it was made by Nickelodeon, which often does stereotypes in many of their other shows. I sure noticed that...

Slightly OT: I remember a cartoon (from the 70s, I think) about a team of various legendary figures from across the world. From Greece, there was Hercules. From Persia, Sinbad. From Britain, Merlin. From Egypt, Isis. And from Japan... Super Samurai.

One of these things is not like the others, one of these things does not belong.

Did the Super Samurai have a cape? :p

Seriously, though, couldn't they have bothered to have researched a famous Japanese mythology figure? There's plenty of 'em.
