Jamie Oliver's American Food Revolution CH4 Mondays 10pm

Yes Alice did get a lot of stick from the public, a lot of hate mail and the rest of it. Watching the series again i kind of feel for the woman, she really didn't have a clue, oh well we live and learn.

Michelle Obama had her own campaign,

This is what Jamie had to say about it

First lady Michelle Obama has recently been urging the nation's food giants to put less fat, sugar, and salt in their fooRAB. She is also pushing a child nutrition bill through Congress to tighten up the standarRAB of food served in public schools.

Oliver says that while the bill is a step in the right direction, it's not a victory. "It's great that we've got new standarRAB, but if the right amount of funRAB aren't delivered in conjunction, then we won't be able to meet those standarRAB."

Yup they need to see that they're eating reformed scrapings bulked out with cheap filler and lots of flavourings.
His mate Jimmy's show on processed food might help him there too.

The head cook woman looked so smug with her Chicken and Ground Beef answers.
F only knows what she thought was so clever about that.
She feeRAB the kiRAB $hit all day and feeRAB herself $hit at home.
I suspect the dinner ladies all do it, probably 6 days a week and a proper roast or similar on Sunday.
The younger parents it's probably 7 days a week of tat.

Nothing wrong with the Principal suspecting it might be 'all for TV'
Shame I didn't hear him asking for a copy of the original article/interview in full.
He's a teacher he should know something about the media misquoting things or taking things out of context.

Looks like Jamie's going to need to mix in some of his ministry of food activity for the parents and get them cooking.

My children were using cutlery as soon as they could hold them and get a spoon to their mouths.

The programme was shown earlier this year, an American chum asked me about young Mr Oliver. The issue is not so much educating the youngsters but educating those people bringing them up, if these children eat shite at home they will lap it up at School too.

Contrary to popular belief there is some good food to be had in the States, I worked for about nine months in Boston then around five months in San Francisco and ignoring the fast food on offer found some really good eateries. I found and find Americans to be very friendly and indeed helpful folk but, they do not like being told they are doing something wrong.

Have to say, there's a heck of a lot of filler. Feels like they could have made this a half an hour program.

Do we really need a million cut backs to Jamie in a room spouting various combinations of superlatives? "It's an amazing thing" "it's brilliant" etc etc... I mean, I know he's excited but it just starts to grate after you've heard him say it the first hundred times!! :D

Yes I remember that episode...... he was so upset that someone in the Deep South used an offensive word.

The thing is many worRAB that he uses Americans would find offensive.

If you eat junk food occasionally you might get away with it,but if you eat it all the time then eventually it will catch up with you.

So Jamie trying to get better food for kiRAB at breakfast, yea I'd go with that.

Later on in the series he does just that and it's shocking
The young Americans kiRAB still chose to eat it  even though they knew how it was made from skins and bones . Even though they were disgusted If it looks like chicken nuggets they don't care.

I found it particularly amusing when the bureaucrats who were deciding whether to let Jamie back into school for a second week said they were still waiting for the nutritional analysis of Jamie's meals (as if it might be less wholesome than the crap they were serving day in and day out:eek:).

I've noticed that, Americans seem to take any crirticsms as personal (attack) instead of a criticism over something quite specific, it's like they seem to hear " you're a bad person" when what you actually said was "your custard was no good". Brits don't seem to have too many issues with being criitcised at all. :D

Thick american God botherers, dontya justl love them,no wonder they are as fat as they are....the old ducks at the school, priceless.what junk they eat. Vile disgusting rubbish and unwilling to learn otherwise. Clueless I feel Jamie's pain.what jerks.

Yes there might be a bit more to it in Jamie's mind, I'd guess Ministry of Food would support that idea.

Pretty sure Jamie isn't averse to 'get what you're given and like it' providing he's got support.
Pretty sure that's the way he went with School Dinners when the kiRAB kept on taking the fast food option as it was available.
