Jamie Oliver's 30-Minute Meals, C4 5.30pm

The mushroom risotto, salad and more grilled mushrooms looked scrumptious (well as long as you like mushrooms, that is!) Is it usual to add all that cheese in a risotto?? I hadn't realised that Jamie made everything so rich - surely it's already pretty creamy. I can't believe how easy the chocolate slivers were, and effective.

Indeed. It gives me inspiration and that is what these type of programmes are all about - for me anyway.

It is a bit like 60 Minute Makeover. All the prep has been done beforehand, and I mean all the prep. So they can concentrate on the 'building back up' with an army of people during the last 60 minutes.

Also just to add these are recipes that can be made anytime of the year or whenever you feel like making/eating them.

I didn't think it's Jamie's intention to dictate the viewers the time of the year these recipes have to be made.....cmon have a bit of common sense here jeeeze:rolleyes:

Well I for one am inspired by this programme, so much so that I have also bought the book, and I NEVER buy cookery books usually.

Lots of lovely recipes in there, I am making the Portuguese tarts later on ;)

Haha...nope!
The extra flavourings which make it tasty are the point here too.
Recorded from the programme..no cost..or print the recipe off from C4's website...still nothing. :D

Ooops, sorry!
Get the WHSmith one & then take the first one back. Tell them your partner bought one the same day. :)

By the way..not a 30 minute meal but I tried this bolognese recipe on Saturday..using bacon rather than pancetta but still...and also, I've not got an ovenproof pan & wanted to save on washing up so just left it on a low light on the hob for a couple of hours instead. Everyone loved it. :)

I made the stovetop chicken pie with the puff pastry, mashed carrots and peas tonight for dinner. It took longer that 30 minutes from start to finish when I did it but it tasted lovely. I'm going to continue doing it like this from now on as it was so easy.

Is there something in the book about having a salad with every meal?

It seems a little repetative that it's always a meal, salad and dessert, although I suppose some of the recipies could be considered or converted to starters.

He seemed to use a few extra bowls today. Being lazy, if it was me I would have picked up the board with the salsa on and dropped it straight on to the focaccia and I would have dipped the mozerella into the food processor bowl to coat them :p
