Jamie Oliver's 30-Minute Meals, C4 5.30pm

I thought it was ok. The 30 minute meal concept has been done to death, but the show was actually alright.

JO was also more acceptable than usual. None of his stupid phrases or slang.

His Sunday "Roast" dinner was really a fry up, how much is all that olive oil he lashes everywhere? and the meat was raw with blood oozing out of it, my family wouldn't eat it like that.

Jamie dragged out the processor with slicing device to slice up the mushrooms and onions for the gravy. Good sharp knive would've been just as quick, especially when you factor in assembling the darn thing and the washing up.

Hate to say it, because I like Jamie, but in real-time, if you were cooking those duck breasts for that long, they'd be overcooked. If, when he cuts those breasts, there's even a hint of pink inside, then there's no way they were cooked in real-time.

I recorded it, but didn't watch today's as I didn't fancy the menu. I will take a look at the others though, as I am forever trying to find 'proper' meals to cook when I get in from work, that don't involve spending three hours in the kitchen!

If I like enough of the programmes, I may even invest in the book.

I stopped watching after Bouncer left for doggie heaven and if you wiki the 6000th episode it tells you who did it. Apparently Mrs Mangel has been training for her latest cage fight and takes him out with one shot

I made the piri piri chicken and the sweet potato mash from Monday's episode (I left out the custard tarts) and that was done easily within 30 minutes. I expect if I'd attempted the tarts as well, I might have felt a bit rushed -- but I think it might just have been do-able.

It was a nice meal - and I'll definitely be watching more of the series.

It might be why he likes beetroot and cauliflower and other unliked fooRAB so much.

If you drown it in oil, lemon and a load of chilli then can you even taste the original product :D

i thought they were bakewell once the icing was added ontop?
whatever its called i want to make some

but the i also liked the look of the portuguese tarts mmmm

I'm definitely trying tonight's Greek feta/spinach tart and salad - looks gorgeous!

As Mariaella says - this is definitely a good show for picking up ideas. And goodness knows my coooking repetoire neeRAB a bit of a boost! :)
